Well that was a waste to time quoting on that job, I will just move on and quote the next job.
Wrong use it as a learning experience, Don’t be afraid. Ask the customer why they chose the other painter’s quote, Most times they will tell you.
Now think about the answer very carefully because, most times, it will come down to you did not explain your quote to the customer or the customer did not fully understand just what you were offering. I know they might say something like, “Well, he was a lot cheaper”, ok, but that still means you did not explain to the customer the value you were offering in your quote. The other price might be cheaper; however, are they using the same top-line paint as you? Is it going to last as long as the paint you are using? Will it be as easy to clean as the product you quoted on? Most times, you miss out on a job. It does really come down to the customer did not understand the benefits you are offering.
Be hard on yourself, go over in your mind, and work out what you could have done or said that would have made the difference and won you the job.
If you can learn from this then it is not really a loss, it is just a lesson on how to do things better next, If you don’t learn then it is a total loss.
The choice is yours.
